I’m a big fan of working with a single plant for a prolonged period of time for a few reasons.
We get to deeply know the personality and essence of a plant spirit.
Long-term relationships cultivate deeper bonds.
Greater clarity about how a plant is impacting us and our life becomes possible.
And if you enact plant spirit rituals, you can recognize whether your ritual work is effective or not.
I know it isn’t a popular suggestion to focus on one plant in a culture that’s impatient. It’s not always flashy or sexy for folx who want results yesterday.
Plant spirits work on the subtle realms. Creating energetic shifts that can be easy to miss if we hop from one plant to the other. And can disrupt shifts to long-standing, deep seated patterns.
Over the years, I learned to apply this principle to all areas of my spiritual work. For example sticking with the same meditation practice over a long period of time. Or completing the same yoga sequence over and over again. There are secrets uncovered in repetition and consistency of a practice. And working with plants is no different.
My favorite way to work with plant spirits is in dreams. A place where our egos often get out of the way. Creating space for our soul and the wisdom of guiding powers in our life to come through.
